
Learn How to Add Border to Your Banner Design Using Photoshop
Posted on: October 16, 2014From time to time we are going to display our banner design at places where it can’t be recognized as banner because matching background color. One of the ways for fix this problem is by adding border to the banner in order to underscore it as a banner design and separate it from the rest of the website.
The best solution to this problem is by using CSS code to give your banner a border, but for those of you that don’t have the ability to edit CSS code the other solution can be by adding the border to the image by using photoshop software.
In this tutorial and video screenshot I am going to teach you how easy adding a border to your image banner can be.

Adding a border to your image or banner is an easy task that only requires few simple steps. First of all open your photoshop software and load the image you want to add the border into.
On this tutorial we are going to use this image:
Then go to your layer panel and create new layers that will be above all the others layers. The keyboard shortcut for creating new layer is Shift+Ctrl+N.
Once you have the new new layer and the new layer is selected fill the whole layer with color by using the Paint Bucket Tool or just by press the keyboard shortcut Alt + Delete.
One the new layers is filled with color we are going to change the “Fill” of that layer from 100% to 0% view the image below to see how to get is done.
Once the layer fill is on 0% the layer color won’t be view anymore and now we are going to add the border into that layer.
To add the border we are going to click on the “Add layer style” icon and choose the stroke option
Once you clicked on stroke the stroke style options window will get open and using that window you can add the border to your image or banner.
In the stroke window change the “Position” to “Inside” and choose the border size and the border color you want:
Once you made the changes and press “OK” and your image will have border.
